Sigh* You can only do so much right... I remember there were these beggar kids that came from a different city and started bothering everyone in the marketplace. One day the cops came and threatened that they will put them in remand homes and guess what? They were all gone.. The mafia behind this makes things worse.. you feel bad for the kids, but whatever you do to help them doesn't help them.

A Tribute to Indian Muslims

Read a similar (a concise edition of the same) on desijournal.com Pankaj. And read another version of this on the blogs too. While your effort to point out the good in the bad is appreciated, don't you think this is a bit over the top? Read history again adn you will know how many converted during Akbar's regime. What about those Hindu princesses he married just for the sake of dirty politics? If you go deep, its' all a mess. Its' not as clean as you are trying to project it. Sunjay Dutt is half muslim. You have n't added his acting skills and Dawood relations in your essay:-)

Of Cynics, Love and Birthdays

Hilarious:-)

I had this problem the first year that we got married. I was still in college, living in my parents house while he lived in US. People asked me what am I going to send, how I will send it and gave suggestions that varied from online shopping to FedEx. Some people even got the rates/ lb. But I was not very comfortable asking dad to fund my gift giving event. It was hard to convince people that no, I am not sending anything:-)

Also, giving gifts or receiving one would matter for those who don't buy things when they want them, but for shopoholics, it hardly matters.

All said, I love gifts:D Nothing beats opening a box and being surprised (or rather acting surprised) !!
